Jorge Corona, MD
Join Dr. Jorge Corona in the operating room as he performs endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs) on eight patients (three bilateral cases) with different kinds of lacrimal drainage obstruction. Each case includes endoscopic views and meticulous tube placement (both Crawford and Jones tubes are shown in this series), with an emphasis on careful incision, flap creation, and bleeding control. Adult and pediatric patients are treated, demonstrating a variety of presenting problems, and management of intraoperative surprises, such as encountering dacryoliths and excessive bleeding.
8 Cases Including over 4 Hours of Operative Video!
Case 1: 72-year-old female patient with bilateral dacryostenosis, treated with bilateral endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs), limited anterior ethmoidectomies, and bilateral lacrimal intubation
Case 2: 53-year-old female patient with right side upper punctum stenosis and blocked right lower punctum, treated with right endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), anterior ethmoidectomy, lower snip incision of punctum, lower canalicular reconstruction, and probing and intubation of the lacrimal system
Case 3: 55-year-old female patient with left side nasolacrimal duct stenosis and left upper and lower puncta stenosis, treated with left endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), left limited anterior ethmoidectomy, left upper and lower snip incision of puncta, and intubation of the lacrimal system
Case 4: 65-year-old male patient with right side complete nasolacrimal duct stenosis and left side partial obstruction of nasolacrimal duct, treated with bilateral endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs), limited anterior ethmoidectomies, bilateral intubation of the lacrimal systems, and right removal of dacryoliths
Case 5: 48-year-old female patient with blocked left side upper and lower puncta, left side eczema and dermatitis, and history of bilateral tubes, treated with left side endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), limited anterior ethmoidectomy, and intubation with 4×16 StopLoss Jones tubes (conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy, CDCR)
Case 6: 2-year-old female patient with right side congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction and history of two previous intubations, treated with right endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), limited anterior ethmoidectomy, and intubation
Case 7: 70-year-old female patient with bilateral lower puncta obstruction and history of punctal procedure, treated with bilateral endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs), limited anterior ethmoidectomies, bilateral lower snip incision of puncta, lower canalicular reconstructions, and intubation
Case 8: 66-year-old female patient with left side dacryostenosis, treated with left endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), ethmoidectomy, and intubation
